I'm giving this 4 instead of 5 stars only because I think the sheet music should have included a separate section with the ornaments written out.

The video itself (and of course Ian's playing!) is really excellent. The sound quality is very good and the close up of Ian's finger movements contains a wealth of information. The amount of verbal explanation seems just about right. I've never used video lessons before but I expect I'm going to end up buying all of Ian's work if the quality proves to be as good as this one. I have to say I've already gotten far more out of this lesson than any single private lesson including individual lessons at a university with a teacher from one of the big name conservatories. That's not to disparage the teacher, but rather to indicate that having a well-made detailed video I can review over and over is simply a much more powerful way to learn instrumental technique. BTW, I recommend (no affiliation) Transcribe! from Seventh String Software as a way to loop over small sections of the video in slow motion without altering the pitch of the sound. It's really helpful for noticing things like the fact that Ian plays a B-natural instead of a B-flat when he rolls the C in measure 3.

I'm really disapointed, the sheet music doesn't correspond with the tune recorded. I don't mean about ornements, but even variations are not writen on the sheet...
9$ for a sheet you can find for free on any fiddle website, I regret my money, I should better have takken 10mn to transcribe the tune myself...
